9/11 Lawyer Visits CumbriaOne of the lawyers who advised victims of the September 11th attacks is speaking in Carlisle next week. Richard Langton will be appearing at the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers’ (APIL) regional meeting which is taking place at the city centre office of solicitor Burnetts on Tuesday 28th November. Richard is the APIL President and will be talking about APIL and rehabilitation. As well as advising claimants in the September 11th litigation, he also acted in the Lockerbie aviation litigation against Pan Am and Libya, as well as rail crashes including those at Colwich and Paddington. Barrister, Jeremy Freedman from Newcastle’s Plowden Chambers will be giving APIL members a legal update. Carlisle lawyer, Richard Bain is head of Burnetts’ own Personal Injury Department and specializes in cases involving accidents at work, particularly catastrophic or fatal industrial accidents. He said, “The APIL regional meetings are always lively and a useful opportunity to share ideas and experiences. Importantly, they are a good opportunity for Cumbria’s personal injury lawyers to benefit from APIL training without having to travel to Newcastle or further afield. To the best of my knowledge this is the first time an APIL President has addressed a meeting in Cumbria so this meeting is of particular significance. ” This free meeting is open to all APIL members and takes place in Burnetts’ library from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Note to editor: The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) was set up in 1990 by a group of solicitors who wanted to provide a voice for injured people. APIL is now a recognised voice within Government and has more than 5,000 members. |
