Kuba Strycharczyk graduated in law from the University of Durham in 1975 before joining Cumbria County Council in 1976.  He was admitted as a solicitor in 1978 and continued to work for Cumbria County Council until joining Burnetts in 1991.

Kuba gained a wide spectrum of experience of employment law whilst with the local authority.  The Port of Workington is unique in being wholly owned by a County Council and Kuba was, for some ten years, the solicitor responsible for the commercial work of the Port including all employment matters.  He was also responsible for providing advice in relation to the Education and Social Services sectors of the County Council including the many employment issues arising. Uniquely he was also responsible for piloting the Cumbria Act 1982 through Parliament which was a joint initiative between the County and District Councils in Cumbria. 

Kuba has successfully used his considerable experience and expertise to expand and develop the work of Burnetts especially in the public sector. 

Kuba is a Partner in the employment team at Burnetts and has developed a broad base of private and public sector clients, including several large companies.  He is a highly experienced and respected advocate appearing before Employment Tribunals on a national basis wherever clients require.  In recent years, the demand for his services has seen him appear before Employment Tribunals as far apart as Glasgow and Bristol.  In addition to Carlisle and Newcastle, Kuba regularly appears before the Employment Tribunal in Manchester. 

Kuba’s work embraces all aspects of employment law.  He has, in particular, developed a specialism with regard to discrimination issues, most notably in the difficult and complex areas of disability and Equal Pay

Kuba is an accomplished speaker having chaired or spoken at a number of conferences over the years, as well as being an organiser of conference and training events.
