Natalie Ruane

Partner

Natalie Ruane is a Partner at Burnetts and has special responsibility for the firm’s Equality and Diversity practices.  She graduated from the University of Bradford in 1995 with a degree in German and French.  She then spent two years as a German teacher in northern Sweden before returning to the UK to study law at Chester College of Law.

Natalie joined Eversheds in Birmingham in 1999 and upon completion of her training, joined their Human Resources legal team where she specialised primarily in pensions and employment law, advising large public and private limited companies and also assisting in merger and acquisition transactions.

In March 2003 Natalie moved to Cumbria and joined Burnetts. She now advises public and private sector clients on a full range of employment law issues. She has continued to act on employment related issues for companies undergoing mergers or other corporate transactions, dealing with TUPE matters as well as individual and collective redundancy situations.

Natalie also has a strong track record in Tribunal advocacy, defending claims of unfair dismissal or discrimination. Day to day, she advises on dispute management including disciplinary and grievance matters, drafts employment documentation and advises on Compromise Agreements.

Additionally, within the education sector, Natalie has advised on the Teachers’ Pension Scheme Regulations, drafted contracts for part-time lecturers, revised policies and handbooks and presented training sessions.
