Burnetts Nationally Ranked in Legal Guide

Burnetts has been ranked nationally for its work in the education sector by the prestigious legal guide Chambers and Partners which is published this month. 

Burnetts, which has offices in Newcastle and Carlisle, was one of only 15 firms in the UK to be recommended for its advice to higher and further education institutions. More than twenty advisers within the firm work in education law and in the last three years Burnetts has acted for 14 FE Colleges, three HE institutions and many schools. The University of Central Lancashire is a major client.

Elsewhere in the 2010 guide, Burnetts was also recommended for its expertise in employment law and construction.

Individuals too were recognised with five of Burnetts’ solicitors recognised as “Leaders in their field”. Within the “superlative” medical law team, the “extremely astute” Vicki Jagger and Angela Curran were recommended. Both specialise in birth trauma advice.

The “considerable reputation” of Senior Partner John Morris was also recognised. John Morris is chairman of the Law Society’s Employment Law Committee
 
Burnetts’ family law team was singled out for the first time with Simon Mortimer earning particular recognition.

Finally, up and coming Associate Richard Miller was praised for his work acting for farmers and described as having “charisma and commitment”.
