Domestic violence takes many forms: physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse can all be present. If you’re in a relationship with that kind of controlling and aggressive behaviour, there’s lots of support to help you find a better life, especially if you have children. Burnetts’ family team is here to ensure that you have the legal advice you need to secure emergency injunctions to help keep you and your family safe. We can also help with separations and divorces. We work closely with the police, social services and organisations like the Eden Domestic Violence Forum or Let Go. There is always someone available to advise you during office hours between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. We have a telephone advice service on Saturday mornings via 01228 552222, if you need emergency advice or help. Importantly, Burnetts can sometimes offer free or subsidised legal help in cases involving domestic violence. Help with legal fees is sometimes available from the Community Legal Service Fund (formerly known as legal aid) where clients cannot afford to pay for legal advice. The advice we give to you is absolutely confidential and your partner doesn’t need to know you have spoken to us. For more advice speak to one of Burnetts’ family team on 01228 552222. |
