Free Legal Update for Landlords

A Cumbria law firm is hosting a free legal update for property landlords.

Burnetts Solicitors in Carlisle, Cumbria is holding the Law for Landlords event in the library of their Victoria Place offices from 12.30pm - 2.30pm on Thursday 12th June.

Student lets is the theme of the update with advice from Burnetts’ experts on managing Houses in Multiple Occupation and dealing with problem tenants. Speakers include Head of Conveyancing Mike Wood and litigation expert Rob Winder. Jan Carruthers, Accommodation Officer from the University of Cumbria will be hosting a Question and Answer session.

Mike Wood said, “The Credit Crunch isn’t the only worry for today’s landlords! As well as restrictions on buy-to-let mortgages, landlords must also get to grips with the latest Housing Act, HIPs and whole load of Health and Safety legislation. However, the development of the University of Cumbria is a golden opportunity for landlords in the County. Our aim is to ensure that new and experienced landlords are up to date with the legislation which impacts on the student letting market and to share helpful advice for when things go wrong”
