John NoctorPartnerOne of the region’s leading corporate lawyers, John Noctor specialises in company and commercial work for major clients in both the private and public sector. He has overseen complex transactions worth up to £75 million. Originally from Cumbria’s west coast, John graduated from the University of Cambridge. He was articled to the firm now known as Hill Dickinson in Liverpool before joining Burnetts in 1986 and becoming a partner in 1988. Within the public sector, John advised Cumbria County Council in setting up the new Connexions service and guided Allerdale Borough Council through its flagship regeneration of Workington Town Centre. He is currently advising Allerdale on their redevelopment of Derwent Forest, the largest brownfield development site in the North of England. Education has been a key sector for John – he advised Lakes College West Cumbria on their campus relocation and Carlisle College on their new city centre site. John also acts for consortia of education institutions providing legal support as they forge strategic alliances. John is a well-known force in the region’s private sector, advising Cumbria’s most successful companies on issues such as acquisitions, mergers and disposals in industries like construction, transport, sport and manufacturing. |
