Licensing seminar for hotels, pubs and restaurantsBurnetts Solicitors is to hold a free seminar for the owners and proprietors of hotels, pubs and restaurants to look at licensing and employing casual / foreign workers. Following several reports of licensees experiencing problems with the new regime and an increase in clients coming forward to make variations to their licences, industry specialists from the Carlisle legal firm will be hosting the free seminar on Tuesday 7th February, 2006 from 4pm to 6pm in Carlisle United Football Club's Foxy's suite. The seminar will also include an update on relevant employment legislation because with Easter fast approaching, the need for extra casual staff is on the increase again. It's more likely than ever that some of these casual staff will be foreign workers. Partner Alan Chapman and Associate Solicitor, James Stables will consider licensing issues such as variations, personal licence holders, Temporary Events Notices and potential problems.. Alan said, "Through talking to our own clients, I can see there is still some uncertainty about new licensing practice. I am also concerned that a lot of businesses don't have enough personal licence holders and could face difficulties if a key person left. I hope that this seminar will make delegates more aware of the new requirements and give them some reassurance." Employment lawyer and Partner, Joanne Stronach will be presenting on the legislation surrounding employing casual and / or foreign workers. She said, "The laws have changed recently with regard to casual workers whilst employing workers from overseas Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided at no charge. Although the seminar is free, advance booking is essential and can be made by calling Sharon Ridley on 01228 55 22 22. 24th January, 2006 |
