Making the Most of Your Assets

The region's entrepreneurs will be finding out how to make the most of their assets next month at a seminar aiming to ensure they reap the maximum benefit from the sale of a business.

"The best time to sell your business" is being run by Carlisle solicitors, Burnetts in partnership with North East chartered accountants, Tait Walker and will take place at Rheged, near Penrith on Wednesday 5th April 2006 from 5.30pm until 8pm.

Corporate Finance experts from Tait Walker will explain what action can be taken to increase the value of the business in readiness for a sale and which tax pitfalls to avoid. Legal specialists from Burnetts will consider a business owner's legal responsibilities on selling a business such as those within the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment ) Regulations (TUPE).
 
Vaughan Jones is one of the course presenters. A corporate lawyer and a Partner at Burnetts, he said, "Some businesses have been built up over many lifetimes so selling such a business is an important decision. Involving specialist advisers at the early planning stages will ensure the process runs smoothly.  This seminar aims to make business owners aware of some of the factors they need to consider pre-sale like relevant legislation and the necessity of a robust sale contract to protect them from future liabilities."

After presentations and an interactive case study, there will be an opportunity to network with other business leaders during a buffet and drinks.
