Michael is head of Burnetts’ dispute resolution department. After working in the City for five years, he joined Burnetts in 1973, becoming a partner in 1978.

Throughout his career Michael has specialised in commercial dispute work, with particular emphasis upon contractual disputes, involving an enormous variety of issues.  One particular area, in which he has specialised for many years, is that of building and civil engineering disputes.  In recognition of his experience and expertise in that field, he was admitted to membership of the Technology and Construction Solicitors’ Association shortly after the Association’s foundation.  He is thought to be the only solicitor anywhere north west of Manchester admitted to membership of the Association.

Michael’s practice and experience extend, not only to commercial litigation, but also to dispute resolution by:

• both arbitration and adjudication, principally in building and civil engineering disputes and
  
• mediation, to which he is enthusiastically committed as a particularly valuable and cost effective means of resolving commercial disputes.

Michael has advised many commercial clients as well as housing associations, local authorities and university and further and higher education clients.
