Online Advice for Horse OwnersBurnetts Solicitors in Cumbria has launched a new equine law section on its website aimed at the owners of horses, livery yards, stables and equestrian centres. The new section includes free legal articles on setting up a livery yard, horse loan agreements, livery yard agreements and buying and selling horses as well as a free sample loan agreement. Katie Moreton, a solicitor with the Carlisle firm, and herself a keen rider, said, "We’re not very good at paperwork in the horse world and tend to work on trust even when we are handing over thousands of pounds, often in cash, to buy a horse. We really need to take more care with our money and our horses which is why I’ve written this series of articles." The articles can be accessed at www.burnetts.co.uk/equine.asp The equine law section will continue to develop with features on horse passports and riding accidents being added over the coming weeks. According to the National Equine Database, there are more than 1 million horses registered in the UK and the British Equestrian Trade Association estimates that 7% of the population rides with 18% having an interest in horses.
