Prime Location for Property Lawyer

A newly qualified commercial property solicitor has secured a prime position with a Cumbria law firm.

Burnetts in Carlisle already has a large seven-strong land and property department with experts in planning, construction and property management, but now the team is even more robust as Katie Moreton joins as a full-time, permanent solicitor.

Tri-lingual Katie spent a year living in Germany before completing her LLB (Bachelor of Laws) at Birmingham College of Law. She began her solicitor training contract with Nigel Davis Solicitors in Derbyshire, but moved to Carlisle in 2008 and transferred to Burnetts.

During her training at Burnetts, Katie has been acting in the sale and purchase of freehold and leasehold commercial property and development land.  She has also assisted on wind farm planning inquiries throughout the North of England.

A keen rider, Katie is a member of Carlisle Young Farmers and hopes to help the firm develop a niche specialism in equine law.

Katie said, “Burnetts has been keen from the beginning to encourage me to build up special areas of interest. I grew up on a smallholding and have always been interested in horses so equine law ties in with my own interests outside of work.  I’m very much looking forward to being part of that developing team alongside my commercial property work.”

Earlier this month, the firm announced it was opening a new office in Newcastle.
