A child from North Cumbria has been awarded a £5.6 million damages package for injuries she suffered during her birth at Cumberland Infirmary in 2000.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has today announced its intention to carry out an in-depth investigation into the delivery of emergency care services at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust operates five hospitals in Cumbria and Lancashire.
