Law @ Lunchtime - Free Legal Advice for West Cumbria Businesses
By Angela Huck on .
West Cumbria business owners who want to stay on top of current trends, news and legal updates can do just that, with a free programme of local events being hosted by law firm Burnetts.
The events will be held at Energus in Workington from June to December and will cover a broad range of business issues.
The next session is at 12pm – 2.30pm on Tuesday 12th of June when Employment Law Associate, Hazel Phillips will be advising on how to manage long-term sickness absence in the workplace giving directors, managers, and HR practitioners the tools to manage employee attendance and to maintain good levels of productivity.
Briefings later in the year include: ‘Avoiding and resolving contractual disputes’ and a session on ‘TUPE’ regulations which protect employees' terms and conditions of employment when a business is transferred from one owner to another or when the provider of a service changes from one organisation to another.
Hazel said, “The feedback from delegates so far has been that the sessions are really useful, and interesting. We aimed to develop a programme which would cover a good range of business needs and focus on issues which we know are taking up the time of business owners. Today, we are all expected to deliver more for less, so tackling long term sickness absence is definitely a priority. I hope my delegates will leave feeling better equipped to deal with what can be a difficult and sensitive situation
