Burnetts is sponsoring a location -sharing smartphone app for riders in a charity cycle sportive.
As well as entering a team for the 2012 Jennings River Ride on 16th September 2012, Burnetts is sponsoring the Buddy Beacon smartphone app for riders.
ViewRanger Buddy Beacon will be offered free of charge to all cyclists taking part and will allow riders to share their real-time location, mapped on to the Rivers Ride routes.
One of those taking part is Tom Leach, Burnetts’ Managing Partner. He said. “We’ve always been big supporters of Cumbria Community Foundation and because we have quite a few keen cyclists, the Jennings River Ride seemed like a great way to do something together as a team and also to support the charity.”
“The Buddy Beacon Service is a bit of fun so that riders and their friends and family can watch their progress round the course. It has a serous application too – it’s used by Search & Rescue teams to coordinate their searches, so there is a peace of mind dimension too.”
“The Burnetts team is doing the 40 mile middle distance route for the second time. It was a fantastic experience last year, although none of us is looking forward to the killer climb over Whinlatter Pass!”

Burnetts has been a supporter of Cumbria Community Foundation since it was first founded in 1999. A team from Burnetts took part in the very first Jennings Rivers Ride in 2011 and the firm is one of the charity’s Corporate Members.
