Family law is Simon’s specialism and he has extensive experience in all areas of family law. Having qualified in 1982 Simon became a member of the Law Society's Children Law Accreditation Scheme in 1988 and has practised extensively in child care cases representing both parents and children.

Simon is also an accredited specialist member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association) and a qualified collaborative lawyer. He has a large divorce practice, frequently dealing with high value cases involving substantial assets and pensions. He also has specific expertise in resolving issues of property and children for unmarried couples.

He is Vice Chair of the Cumbria Family Justice Council, an inter-disciplinary group the purpose of which is to address issues of policy and practice in the family law courts.

Simon joined Burnetts in 1988 and has been a Partner since 1992.
