Special Status for Injury Solicitor

A Carlisle lawyer has earned special status from a national accreditation body.

Nick Gutteridge, Head of Personal Injury at Burnetts in the city has been awarded Senior Litigator status by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL)

The accreditation is a recognition of skill, competence and expertise and is only awarded to solicitors who can demonstrate considerable experience in handling personal injury cases and fighting for maximum awards in court.

As well as proven experience, Senior Litigators sign up to the APIL Code of Conduct which promises clients advice in plain language and clear explanations of costs.

Nick, who represents clients who have sustained catastrophic spinal or brain injuries as well as people with work-related illnesses and other injuries, said, “Earning Senior Litigator status is hard work! You have to be able to provide a great deal of evidence to demonstrate substantial experience. Personal injury is a very specialized field so it is extremely important that we can show prospective clients that we have the right level of experience to deal with their serious injury claims”.

Nick is also member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority's Personal Injury Accreditation Scheme. To find out more about Burnetts' personal injury team, visit the personal injury pages.

APIL is an independent, not for profit organisation providing accreditation to lawyers specialising in the area of personal injury law. This accreditation shows an APIL lawyer has achieved a specific standard.
