Profile

Tom, a native of Carlisle, is the Managing Partner of Burnetts.  He joined Burnetts as a Trainee in 1976, became a Partner in 1982, was elected to the Management Committee in 1987 and became Managing Partner in 1989.

A specialist in property and business matters with an interest in economics and hands on involvement in the running of a small business, he is also a trained mediator and qualified financial adviser.

He has been actively involved in committee and business organisations.  He was Chairman of the Carlisle City Centre Management Trust from 1998 to 2001, a member of the Carlisle City Centre Marketing Group and member of the Carlisle City Centre Partnership Steering Committee.

Tom also served as non-executive director of Activ8 Business Solutions Limited, the Business Link providers for Cumbria from 2000 to 2007.

He has been a Governor for his former school, Trinity School, since 2006.

Tom is a keen sportsman.  His main sport is hockey and following a long playing career, Tom took up coaching and has coached several teams including the Cumbria Ladies Hockey Team that won the National County Championships in 2007 and 2008 and were runners up in 2009.  He is also a dedicated Carlisle United supporter.

A great lover of outdoor activities, Tom is a member of the Cumbria Wildlife Trust.  He is also fond of travelling and on his travels has visited every continent.
