As this year draws to a close, we thought it might be nice to reflect on some of our favourite moments from 2021. Starting from the top left and working clockwise, we have our Head of People, Claire Harrison, representing our ‘Walking the Wainwrights’ wellbeing initiative, new employee benefits which reflect the fact that all our staff are equally valued and contribute to delivering our excellent client service, as well as Burnetts gaining Great Place to Work Status, the NSPCC being voted as our new charity of the year for 2021/2022, our Head of IT, Pawel Trafas, being matched with his new guide dog Pepper, and finally our win in the Best Professional Services category of the In-Cumbria Business Awards.
In 2021 we introduced the Wainwrights wellbeing initiative that aimed to get our staff into the fresh air during their time working from home by walking the famous Lake District Wainwright walks. We kept a log of our trips and are pleased to report that we walked well over 100 Wainwrights and enjoyed our time working together on this project even though we were still working apart.
In February this year, we were thrilled to gain certification as a ‘Great Place to Work©’. As a result of some of the feedback from the employee survey and the increasing pressure on the NHS, we introduced full private medical insurance for every member of staff and, as a fantastic way to end the year, we have increased the holiday entitlement for all staff to 6 weeks from 2022; our staff work really hard for our clients and deserve to be cared for in the process.
In 2021 the NSPCC became our charity of the year and we were thrilled to help and continue to help local families across Cumbria. The NSPCC was voted for by our employees as their message of “Every childhood is worth fighting for” strongly resonated with both partners and staff, and we all welcome the opportunity to raise awareness and support such an important cause. Possibly our favourite piece of news from this year is our registered blind Head of IT, Pawel Trafas, being matched with his lovely guide dog Pepper, thanks to the charity Guide Dogs UK. Both Pawel and Pepper officially graduated from their guide dog training on 4th June and we are so pleased for both of them.
Finally, in November this year we had the honour of receiving an award for the Best Professional Service in Cumbria from the In-Cumbria Business Awards; the award was accepted by partners Michael Walby, James Johnston, Robbie Mather and Simon Mortimer at a fantastic night at the Halston in Carlisle. We would like to take this opportunity to wish our employees, clients and friends a fantastic Christmas and we look forward to making many more memories together in 2022.
