Can we help you return to the “new normal”? With the Government’s recent easing of COVID lockdown restrictions, and a nudge towards transitioning from home to work, you need to make sure your business is “COVID secure”.
The mixed, and often highly critical, response to the suggestion of re-opening schools serves as a timely reminder that those most affected have one very important question: Will it be safe for me, my family and my colleagues? People are afraid, and fear often prompts two reactions: fight or flight. As an employer looking to transition your staff back to work, you have a duty to take reasonable steps to protect their health and safety. Whilst following Government guidance is vital, understanding your staff’s concerns must be “Step One” on the long road to recovery from the effects of this pandemic on your business and on all our lives.
At Burnetts, we have reviewed the Government guidance, considered the many questions you may face over the coming months and drilled down to find the best answers for you in these unprecedented times. We are ready to support all our clients through the return to work process with the sole aim of getting you, your business and your staff safely to the other side. We won’t know what the “new normal” will look like until we get there but, here at Burnetts, we aim to steer you step-by-step across this unchartered terrain as safely as possible:
Step One: ‘Taking the temperature’ of those returning to work – understanding the fears, aspirations and risks for staff returning to your workplace;
Step Two: ‘Taking the medicine’ - putting in place policies and practical measures to be COVID secure in accordance with Government guidance and the science;
Step Three: ‘Creating Confidence’ – communicating clearly and consulting with staff transparently: the ‘what, when, how and why’ strategy for keeping them safe.
To assist you with Step One, we have developed a Return to Work Questionnaire. The fundamental aim of the questionnaire is to ascertain the feelings and wishes of all staff regarding their potential return to work and to identify any member of staff who may be unable to return to the workplace whether due to shielding, vulnerability, caring commitments or otherwise.
Information gathered following receipt of the questionnaire will help you prepare your business to be COVID secure by identifying and completing the necessary risk assessments, identifying and implementing key measures required in the workplace and highlighting any members of staff who require additional support during their transition back to work.
Your staff are the frontline and the face of your business. You may feel your staff are your business. Your openness, communication and support during these unprecedented times is paramount in creating a clear perception of safety and ensuring that your staff are on your side as you journey together to the new normal.
At Burnetts we are fully equipped and ready to provide pragmatic advice and guidance to enable you to follow Government advice, whilst meeting your business needs and maintaining employee relations.
If you are interested in obtaining the Return to Work Questionnaire, please contact Katie Bird on 01228 552222 or firstname.lastname@example.org. This will be provided at a fixed fee of £150 + VAT, with follow-up advice charged at a rate agreed with you.
