Settlement Agreements
Sometimes the best way forward for an employer and an employee is an agreed parting of the ways. It’s important for any employer considering such an arrangement to make sure that the deal is set out in a properly worded and legally binding settlement agreement.
We assist employers through what can be a tricky process, providing guidance on how to hold the conversations which need to take place with the employee, together with providing all the necessary documents, including the settlement agreement itself.
It’s a statutory requirement that the employee in such a situation obtains legal advice on the settlement agreement before they sign it. We also are able to provide that advice for individuals, provided, of course, that we’ve not advised their employer on the deal.
