Solicitors Qualifying Exams

The new route for becoming a solicitor involves sitting two sets of exams, SQE1 and SQE2 and undertaking a two year period of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).

When joining us via this route, we would expect you to already have SQE1 by the time of your start date, and any previous QWE registered and approved.  We will fund the SQE2 exam as a part of your offer.

This programme is usually recruited for two years in advance of commencement, with our next application window for 2026 now being closed.

For more information on this route, please contact Kate Sowerby, or to apply, please send your CV and covering letter to yourfuture@burnetts.co.uk.

Alternatively, you can apply for any of our Paralegal positions and after 12 months of service, you can make an internal application for SQE funding through our internal Legal Career Development Policy.  This funding is granted where there is a business need for an NQ solicitor in the department and both SQE1 and SQE2 exams are paid for by us. An interest-free loan is on offer to fund the preparation courses too.
