The brain injury care “postcode lottery”
We were recently one of the main sponsors of the Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum’s one day conference, held at St James’ Park in Newcastle.
Named ‘Transition Across the Years Following Brain Injury’, the event brought together speakers from across social care, education, neuropsychology and the law, as well as families and individuals talking about their own personal journeys.
Paul Brown, Partner in our Medical Negligence and Serious Injury team, is currently secretary of the Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum and of the UK Acquired Brain Injury Forum and is involved in the strategy to try and “level up” the availability of community-based rehabilitation across the country.
In this film he talks about the current “postcode lottery” in accessing community-based rehabilitation following a brain injury and what needs to be done to make it available to everyone who needs it.
