Our Commercial Litigation team has once again been listed as a Tier 1 law firm in the Legal 500 – one of the most authoritative guides to law firms and solicitors in the UK – cementing its leading position in the North.

The team was recognised by clients as being “Prompt, efficient and courteous,” and “excellently located to serve the business needs of Cumbria and Northumberland”.

James Johnston, who leads the team, was acknowledged for his “significant experience in the agribusiness industry.” The department’s reputation in agribusiness matters was more generally acknowledged by the Legal 500, which confirmed that the department has an “excellent reputation in the agriculture sector” and is able to handle some of the most complex cases in this area. The department’s other recognised strengths include corporate disputes, property litigation and contract disputes.

The team was also praised for its “excellent lawyers with a practical outlook,” with Sally Johnson and Rob Winder recognised as “Key Lawyers”. Sally, in her capacity as a Practising Consultant within the department, specialises in advising on director/shareholder disputes, companies/partnership business disputes and contract disputes. Rob, Senior Associate and the Head of Debt Recovery, is an expert in advising commercial landlords and tenants in regard to forfeitures, dilapidations negotiations/court proceedings and contested lease renewals.
