Burnetts Thrive Fund - Excelsior Academy

We strive to help local and national charities through fundraising events, monthly team challenges and volunteering. This is an integral part of our culture. Early in 2024, in partnership with the Cumbria Community Foundation and the Community Foundation for Tyne and Wear and Northumberland, we were delighted to be able to establish our own charitable fund, The Thrive Fund.

The aim of The Thrive Fund is to provide a lasting legacy of community support across the North East and North West

 As part of this, we were thrilled to hear that our Thrive Fund recently enabled one of our appointed schools, Excelsior Academy in Newcastle, to take a trip to London. You can see some of their brilliant photos of the trip here…

They said “Fantastic tour of the Houses of Parliament and, after our workshop on democracy/ how to create a petition, we got to meet Chi Onwurah MP who listened to our petitions! We heard about the Magna Carta and House of Commons, went inside the House of Lords and learned how laws are made, saw the hall where state funerals are held and learned huge amounts of history. Many thanks again for the generosity from Cumbria Community Foundation for funding our trip of a lifetime”
