We have just received the news that we’ve achieved eight ranked departments and 15 ranked lawyers in the Chambers UK Legal Guide 2025, which ranks the best lawyers and law firms in the UK.
Chambers and Partners has over 70 researchers ranking the best law firms and solicitors working in the UK legal market and covers 78 specialist areas of UK law and has been one of the leading sources of independent legal market intelligence for over 30 years.
The eight departments to achieve rankings are: Agribusiness, Corporate, Commercial Property, Banking, Medical Negligence (North West and North East), Serious Injury and Family law.
Our Commercial Property team was described as being “first-rate” and has been praised for its “calm” approach to “ensure the matter in question is fully understood” and give “great advice on the risks involved.” Helen Hayward who, was named as a Notable Practitioner, is praised by clients who say that she “is always looking out for us.”
Our Corporate team achieved Band 1 status for the very first time and was described as “a key player in the North West”. Head of Department Michael Walby is once again recognised as a Notable Practitioner and described as “First class”. Peter Robinson also features as a new entrant in the North East Corporate M&A rankings, noted for his ability to advise on complex transactions.
Our Band 1 Agribusiness team was described as having a “commitment to excellence” with an “exceptional depth of knowledge and expertise that leaves them well ahead of their field.” Richard Miller and Joanne McKenzie were both named as Notable Practitioners in Band 1. Richard is said to have “led the way for years in the sector and area and is just great to deal with.” Joanne’s “grounded attitude” is a true highlight, with “good quality support staff setting the tone for the business,” the team is able to handle all aspects of agricultural law. ‘Associate to Watch’ Diane Barnes is also “highly regarded by agricultural clients.”

Head of Family Mark Ward now leads the team into what will be an exciting future of expansion.
Our Banking team is led by Notable Practitioner and “incredibly knowledgeable” Nicola Nutley, who always provides an “excellent service.” The team advises lenders and borrowers on a variety of banking and finance matters, including real estate investment and development finance. The team is described as “strong” with “expertise across the board.”
Our Medical Negligence team was noted for being “knowledgeable and empathetic” with “Fighter” Michelle Armstrong named as a Notable Practitioner, who is “good with clients, very sympathetic and hands-on.” Lynne Hall and Jayne McCluskey, are other Notable Practitioners, in an “efficient and effective” team.
