Complex Commercial Lease Completed for West Cumbria Business…

Our Commercial Property team recently completed a complex lease for Brannan, a global manufacturer of thermometers, pressure gauges and associated instrumentation products.

Brannan has had its manufacturing facility at Cleator Moor in West Cumbria since 1940 when it expanded to supply thermometers to hospitals, to industry and to the Navy, but more recently has undergone a period of reinvestment to further improve its site.

Our Commercial Property team acted for Brannan on the surrender of part of their site and the grant of a new lease to solidify their position long term. It was a complex matter due to the timing of works that are set to be carried out post completion. The drafting had to protect our client and ensure these post completion works are undertaken in a timely manner. We also had to ensure that the new documentation matched the specifics of the work Brannan carries out on site.

“Brannan is the oldest resident on Leconfield industrial estate in Cleator Moor, having moved here just after World War 2. For the past few years we have been investing significantly in our property to make it a better place to work. As we relinquish some of the building that has been on this estate for over 75 years and help transform the look of the entrance to the estate, we have been working with Burnetts to finalise a new lease with Cumberland Council.

“We are pleased to say this is now complete, which gives the business security and longevity for its continued operation on this site, and wish to thank Burnetts for their friendly and professional service.”
