Our Employment and HR Training Unit – FAQs…

By Annabel Doyle

We offer a range of Employment and HR Training for businesses and you don’t have to be a client to access this.  Below we answer questions about how our Employment and HR Training works and how you could benefit…

Do I have to be a Burnetts client to access your training unit?
No you don’t, our training unit is accessible to everyone.

Do I have to be on a retainer with you?
Again, no you don’t – we will agree a set price for you from the outset and invoice you after your training session.

Do you offer training on a PAYG basis?
Our training packages come at a set price. The price of which varies depending on whether you would like a half-day, full-day or a few hours of training. You can instruct us for as many training sessions as you like! You can even start with one and add more from there.

What kind of training do you offer? How is it formatted?
We can deliver one-off programmes or offer a series of seminars over an annual period.

Our workshops are wide ranging, covering any and all employment law issues or topics. Popular sessions include: Managing difficult conversations, conducting disciplinaries or grievances in the workplace, sexual harassment in the workplace, discrimination, and the Equality Act 2010. This list is not exhaustive! You can find more information on the topics we can cover here.

Our sessions are always interactive and engaging, with plenty of opportunities for attendees to ask questions or even challenge us. We will work with you to ensure the sessions are bespoke to your organisation and particular sector, the challenges you face and any development needs you have. We will bring our knowledge and expertise, but we will be entirely guided by you. Of course, there will always be time for a tea and coffee break too.

I only have a small business, would you work with me?
Yes of course – we work with businesses of all sizes! It is important that all individuals receive training on important employment issues, regardless of company size.

I work for a massive company – can you offer training for large groups?
Yes – we can deliver training to a maximum of 20 people per session. We find that you get a better and more engaged audience in smaller groups. We therefore limit our numbers for each session to smaller focus groups but will happily repeat the same session so it can be delivered to a wider group. In our experience and the feedback we receive, individuals get more out of smaller group sessions and are more inclined to ask pertinent questions.

What kind of costs am I looking at if I want to make use of your training services?
The cost depends on how long your training session will be. For a no obligation chat, just give us a ring on 01228 552222.

Why would I or my team need employment law training?
Up-skilling is essential for any business. Not only can it enhance your employee satisfaction and productivity, but it can educate your staff on the latest developments and how to manage employees in the workplace, as well as helping to counteract difficult issues when they arise.

Managing people can be one of the hardest parts of being a manager or running a business and one which many people shy away from. Ensuring your workforce has the required knowledge, skills and experience will not only enhance your business performance but limit workplace disputes and the possibility of ending up in an Employment Tribunal.

An Employment Tribunal will also expect you to have trained your staff… Investing in training and education from the outset and on an ongoing basis will save costs in managing and defending a dispute at a later date. Training will undoubtedly add to your economic output and employee wellbeing.
