Our recent promotions – Rebecca Collihole
From Work Experience to Commercial Property Partner: Our recent promotions – Rebecca Collihole…
Introducing Rebecca Collihole, who was recently promoted to Partner at Burnetts. Rebecca has been with us for ten years now, having initially joined us as part of our Work Experience Scheme, and she works in our Commercial Property team.
Tell us about how you started at Burnetts…
In September 2015 I began my career at Burnetts as a Trainee Solicitor, progressing through to qualification, Associate Solicitor, Senior Associate Solicitor and promotion to Partner in October 2025. Prior to officially starting at Burnetts, I was lucky enough to be awarded a place on our highly sought after (and still continuing) Work Experience Scheme from Summer 2010 until I graduated university in 2015.
You’re a Commercial Property Partner, what does that actually involve?
Assisting our clients with everything commercial property related! This includes acting for clients on property purchases, sales, refinances, leases, easements, development matters, general queries, the list continues. I work closely with our Corporate and Employment teams in acting for clients on the sale or purchase of businesses, as I deal with any commercial property elements on those transactions.
A quick breakdown of your day to day:
My day is mainly spent at my desk and involves lots of emails, calls with clients and other solicitors, reviewing and reporting on property titles, drafting or reviewing/negotiating documents and supervising others in my team. I love when I do manage to get away from my desk and meet with clients, attend site visits or go to events. I am also involved with some other roles within Burnetts. As head of our social committee, I get to organise the firm’s Christmas party and other social events throughout the year and I also enjoy being involved with any new IT software and processes.
What do you like best about your job?
One of my favourite elements of my job is being able to play a key role in supporting my clients – especially when that means supporting their growth over a number of years. A great example is N Family Club who are a UK-based nursery and early-years education group. My colleague Helen and I started acting for them in around 2018 and have been a key part in their growth from one nursery in 2017 to over 50 nurseries today, and counting…
What do you find challenging?
Thankfully, the positives outweigh the negatives in my job, but sometimes juggling the workload of many different clients/files and high-pressure transactions with maintaining a very high standard of client service can be a challenge.
How did you find your way to this career?
I wanted to be a lawyer for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I probably expected that involved representing clients in court, however once I was in university I soon realised that was not the type of lawyer I wanted to be!
Your hope for the future career-wise?
To continue to develop my own skills and knowledge in ever changing commercial property law, and to assist with the growth of my team and the firm as a whole.
A little known fact about you?
I have a twin sister, and we were born eight minutes apart. We look very alike, but we are not identical.
