Over £6.5k raised for CBIT and a great night had by all
Last week our Burnetts Solicitors and Parklane Plowden Chambers Child Brain Injury Trust Annual Quiz night took place at One Strawberry Lane in Newcastle and what a night it was!
Over 100 people battled it out across 20 teams, answering tough questions on a range of topics – on everything from the English version of the lyrics to Gangnam Style, to Sam Fender appearing as a dead body in the first episode of Vera – from our entertaining quizmaster extraordinaire Mick Laffey. We heard Emma Pilling speak about the wonderful work of the Child Brain Injury Trust and share her own personal story about her son Charlie, and together we raised over £6500 for the charity.
We presented the Mike Stubbs memorial shield to our quiz winners in memory of our great friend Mike, who himself supported so many charities over the years. It was wonderful to meet both his boys Thomas Kelly and Oliver Kelly as our guests of honour. We really hope we did Mike proud.
Paul Brown, our Medical Negligence and Serious Injury Partner, said:
“We are very proud to once again organise the quiz for the Child Brain Injury Trust with Park Lane Plowden Chambers. This is the third year we have arranged this event and every year it seems to get better and better. This year we decided to hold the quiz in honour of Mike Stubbs, or Stubbsie as many of us knew him, who sadly passed away this year. I hope that we can continue to hold this event for many years to come in his honour and continue to raise money for important charities like the Child Brain Injury Trust.”
We’d like to take this opportunity say a big well done to our quiz winners on the night – Sintons LLP – and we very much look forward to doing it all again, even bigger and better, next year. Watch this space…
