Burnetts' Dispute Resolution team acknowledged for "A team of excellent lawyers who provide a strong service and excellent commercial advice" - Legal 500 2019
Burnetts' experienced teams in Carlisle, Cockermouth and Newcastle understand the complex issues involved in pursuing matters through the courts, through arbitration or through other tribunals, and can advise you on the best course of action.
We deal with a wide range of dispute resolution cases including those arising from contested probate, inheritance claims and disputed wills;
Our expert team advise on all aspects of dispute resolution:
We will always consider with you possible means of avoiding litigation or bringing any proceedings to a conclusion as speedily as possible. We are enthusiastic supporters of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and, in particular, of mediation, which is the most common form of ADR.
Sometimes, we can assist you to resolve a dispute yourself. That may be appropriate in small claims, where the cost of retaining a solicitor for the whole case may be out of proportion to the amount in issue.
Whatever your dispute, we are happy to provide preliminary advice, advice during a case or conduct the case on your behalf.
Other types of dispute, such as employment, family, personal injury and medical negligence, are dealt with by specialists elsewhere in the firm.
