Cases involving children

Emergency Applications

Emergency family applications include:

  • Non-Molestation and Occupation Orders, sometimes referred to as Injunctions or Restraining Orders, are sought within families to protect against domestic abuse
  • Prohibited Steps Orders about children. They prevent a parent from exercising their parental responsibility in a particular way e.g. making a change of school, preventing removal from the jurisdiction, or preventing permanent relocation within England
  • Freezing Orders and orders preventing dissipation of assets. These orders between divorcing couples prevent one party reducing the ‘matrimonial pot’ to the detriment of the other

If necessary, an emergency application can be made on the date we first see you. Court hearings can be obtained at short notice with or without the other party knowing, in appropriate circumstances.

  • Child Arrangements Orders

These are orders stating where children should live or who they should see. They are normally made over a period of weeks but if a child has been removed from his or her normal environment, an urgent application can be made to restore the status quo.

If you are faced with an urgent situation, our family team has the range of skills and breadth of knowledge to assist you in a crisis.
