Amputation
Undergoing an amputation is a shocking, devastating and life changing event, but particularly when it is as a result of medical negligence. Types of amputation range from loss of a finger or toe to loss of the full limb.
Some negligent causes of amputations include failure to correctly diagnose and treat sepsis, meningitis or diabetes, failure to correctly treat a wound or infection, not identifying reduced oxygen supply to limbs, for example from a Deep Vein Thrombosis, and vascular surgery errors.
The consequences of amputation are not only physical but psychological and have wide-reaching effects on patients and their families.
We can provide specialist support and advice to help secure compensation for clients to improve their quality of life. Burnetts will aim to secure an interim payment whilst your case is being investigated to be used for rehabilitation, counselling, and purchasing specialist prosthetics and equipment.
Compensation can also be secured for loss of earnings, to enable adaptations to the client’s home (or purchase a new home if suitable adaptations cannot be made), purchase adapted vehicles and provide suitable care packages, physiotherapy and other therapies.
Burnetts understand that the process of recovering from an amputation is daunting and stressful. With access to specialist experts who can assist with obtaining state of the art prosthetics and rehabilitation, along with case managers who can help with locating suitable rehabilitation, we can help you to start your recovery.
