A day in the life of a residential conveyancing assistant

Alice Ghorst shares a day in the life as a residential conveyancing assistant at Burnetts.

Looking back at this time last year, I didn’t foresee myself as part of the conveyancing team today; in fact I never imagined being 18 and working in a solicitors.

I started Burnetts in June 2016 as an admin assistant on an apprenticeship scheme, but I was soon offered a role in the conveyancing team. I took the opportunity whilst I could and haven’t looked back.

You can read Alice's article on her career progression and life at Burnetts here.

Each day is different from one another in conveyancing; the candle is burning at both ends with the aim to get every transaction completed. I communicate with various people throughout my day varying from Estate Agents, Solicitors, Financial Representatives and the Land Registry, keeping everyone in the chain up to date with what’s going on in every matter, along with making sure everyone is satisfied.

Working as part of the conveyancing team has enabled me to widen my knowledge on the types of properties not only Cumbria has to offer but across the country. Before joining the team I never knew how much work goes into buying a house, it really isn’t just a “signing of a document”.

I thoroughly enjoy working in the conveyancing team, the work it brings and the dedication the team put in together. Everyone in the team here at Burnetts endeavour to provide the best service possible on all transactions.

If you would like a quotation for a conveyancing matter, we have a free calculator on our website. However, if you would like to speak with someone direct either myself or a member of the team, we are more than happy to discuss this with you if you call our reception on 01228 552222 or email me at ag@burnetts.co.uk.
