Employment Law Legislation Update - December 2015

At this time of year your thoughts might be turning to Santa and his elves and how hard they have to work to get all those toys ready for Christmas day. Whether or not you think that slave labour might be involved, businesses with a total turnover at £36 million or above, should start thinking about getting themselves ready for compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 which came into force in October this year. The Act requires businesses of that size, to prepare a slavery and human trafficking statement for each financial year ending on or after 31st March 2016.
Any businesses whose turnover (taking into account the global turnover of the organisation and any subsidiaries) should start preparing now.
