Employment Law Legislation Update - May 2015
Employment law solicitor Hazel Phillips looks at the latest legislation updates.
It cannot have failed to escape your notice but, earlier in the month, the General Election resulted in a majority Conservative government. At the time of writing it isn’t yet clear what that will mean for future employment legislation. However, based on the Conservative manifesto we should expect: action to implement the already approved prohibition of exclusivity in zero hours contracts; new legislation covering minimum turn-out requirements for strikes and reworking of facility time rules for Trade Union representatives; and the introduction of paid time off for volunteering work.
