Employment Legislation Update - November 2014
Burnetts' employment law solicitors provide an update on the latest legislation coming into force during 2014.
One of the parts of the Children and Families Act 2014 which comes into force on 1 December 2014 (but which won’t apply until 5 April 2015) relates to those looking to become parents via surrogacy.
For parents of babies due on or after 5 April 2015, the primary adopter of a child born through a surrogacy arrangement will be entitled to take adoption leave and pay provided they have applied for a 'parental order'. They will also be able to end their adoption leave early and move onto shared parental leave.
