Employment Legislation Updates 2014
Burnetts' employment law solicitors provide an update on the latest legislation coming coming into force during 2014.
Employers have a legal duty under the Health and Safety Information for Employees Regulations (HSIER) to display the approved Health and Safety poster in a prominent position in each workplace or to provide each worker with a copy of the approved leaflet outlining British health and safety law. Copies of the relevant posters and the leaflets are available from the Health and Safety Executive Website – http://www.hse.gov.uk
Although the posters/leaflets haven’t been updated since 2009, the deadline to change the posters/leaflets to the ‘new’ version is running out. The 1999 poster or leaflet must be replaced with the 2009 poster or leaflet no later than 5 April 2014. If you are still displaying the old poster/leaflet after that date then you will not be compliant with Health and Safety law.
