Employment Legislation Updates - September 2014
Burnetts' employment law solicitors provide an update on the latest legislation coming coming into force during 2014.
From 1st October 2014, employees will have the right to accompany a partner to pre-natal appointments. The right is to unpaid time off and will cover up to two ante-natal appointments of up to a maximum of six and a half hours for each appointment.
Also note the National Minimum Wage increases from 1st October 2014. From that date onwards the new rates will be:
• £6.50 for workers aged 21 and over
• £5.13 for workers aged between 18 and 20
• £3.79 for workers aged between 16 and 17
• £2.73 for apprentices up to the age of 19 or in their first year of apprenticeship
