Berrier Hill Wind Farm Appeal
Comment from Doug Claxton, Burnetts on the successful dismissal of the Berrier Wind Farm planning Appeal.
Planning law specialist Doug Claxton advised the Friends of the Lake District and the Berrier Wind Farm Opposition Group. He is a Partner at Burnetts in Carlisle and a member of the Law Society’s Planning Law Accreditation Scheme.
He said, “I am delighted for my clients. It has been a lot of hard work but we managed to field a strong team of experts at the Appeal even with the limited funds of an opposition group.”
“This was an extremely sensitive location, right on the boundary of the Lake District National Park and would have destroyed an iconic view of the Lakeland Fells. Had the Berrier Hill Wind Farm been able to go ahead, it would have set an unwelcome precedent for developments on the National Park fringes. This was an important win for Cumbria.”
