Burnetts Retains Top Ranking in National Guide
Burnetts has maintained its position as Cumbria’s most recommended practice according to the latest edition of a prestigious guide to legal advisers.
Burnetts continues to be commended in more practice areas than any other Cumbrian firm in the 2010 edition of The Legal 500, a well–respected annual guide to UK law firms. Burnetts is also the only firm in the County to be recommended for its expertise in planning, construction, public sector, clinical negligence and family law.
In total, Burnetts is recommended in 11 different fields of law including corporate, commercial property, dispute resolution, employment, public sector, planning, construction, clinical negligence, personal injury, agriculture and estates and family.
Several of the firm’s commercial partners received personal commendations. John Morris, Head of the Law Society’s Employment Law Committee and Burnetts’ Senior Partner was described as a “key figure” in public sector law. John Priddle and Tony Lake were endorsed for their land and property expertise with Jonathan Marshall and Michael Cousins mentioned for their construction specialism. Corporate Partner John Noctor was also recommended.
Within the private client division, Nick Gutteridge was commended for his personal injury advice and Doug Claxton noted for his “specialist high-value farming divorce practice”. Patricia Hall was praised for her specialism in inheritance disputes and professional negligence claims. Clinical negligence experts Vicki Jagger and Angela Curran were also recognized for their “expertise in birth trauma and neonatal injury or death.”
Managing Partner Tom Leach said, “The Legal 500 is a well-known and prestigious publication in the legal world so it is gratifying to have the strength and depth of our expertise acknowledged there. We are delighted that that our reputation and standing in Cumbria has been recognized, but over the coming year we will be focusing on building our reputation beyond Cumbria and throughout the North. ”
