Free Update for Property Landlords
Burnetts is hosting a free legal update for residential property landlords under pressure from the challenges of changing legislation and continued media coverage on the region’s “tenants from hell”.
Burnetts is holding the event in the library of their Victoria Place offices in Carlisle at 12pm – 2.30pm on Thursday 9th September. The session will be repeated at the same time on Thursday 16th September. A free working lunch will be provided.
As well as advice on handling problem tenants, the event will include updates on changes affecting Houses in Multiple Occupation and the Tenancy Deposit Protection Scheme. Nick Elgey from Cumberland Estate Agents will be talking about the buy-to-let mortgage market and experts from Dodd & Co accountants will be explaining the tax and VAT issues which arise from letting residential property.
John Priddle is Head of Property at Burnetts. He said “Where once we saw lots of professional landlords who made letting residential property their business, the recession has seen the rise of the “reluctant landlords” who have been forced to let out properties because they cannot sell.”
“Unfortunately, you still have to comply with legislation whether you have one property or twenty. This event is a particularly good opportunity for those reluctant landlords to get up to speed with their legal responsibilities, but experienced landlords will find it useful too.”
Pre booking is essential.
