Free Wills for Hospice at Home

Specialist lawyers at Burnetts have volunteered to draft free Wills to help Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland.

Burnetts is taking part in the charity’s annual Wills Month which takes place during September.  For one month only, Hospice at Home supporters will have the opportunity to have their Will professionally drawn up (or amended) and Burnetts will not be earning a penny.

Instead Burnetts’ team of accredited wills experts will be drawing up basic Wills and, in return, asking that the will-maker makes a donation to Hospice at Home. The suggested donation is £100 for a single Will or £150 for a pair of mirror Wills. In 2015 Burnetts’ team raised more than £1,260 for Hospice at Home during Wills Month.

Martyn Wrightson, Head of Burnetts’ Wills, Probate and Trusts team said, “Having a professionally drafted and up-to-date Will is the only way to make sure the people you love are looked after when you are no longer here. Getting your affairs in order is important – Hospice at Home’s Wills’ Month provides an excellent opportunity to ensure that your wishes will be carried out when you die whilst supporting an essential local charity.”

The Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland nursing service covers 1500 square miles from the Scottish Border to Stainmore and Allonby to Alston. The clinical team care and nurse approximately 300 patients each year as well as supporting their families and carers. All services are provided free of charge.

However, the service costs more than a £850,000 each year to run, of which the charity needs to raise around £600,000. Further information on the work of Hospice at Home can be found at: http://www.hospiceathome.co.uk/
