Great service the key to top rankings - Cockermouth

Three Cockermouth lawyers have been recognised in The Legal 500’s latest guide to the legal profession.

The West Cumbria team represents three of 24 lawyers from Burnetts who have been ranked in the prestigious legal sector directory - the firm has more lawyer recommendations than any other Cumbria-based firm, with great service being the most-cited reason for the lawyers’ top rankings.

Tracy Stainton, Head of Burnetts’ Cockermouth office and a specialist in wills, trusts and probate is warmly praised for being “very responsive”, “very focused and professional”, her “considered, balanced and pragmatic advice” and for her “willingness to always go the extra mile for her clients”.  Tracy re-joined Burnetts in 2012, having previously trained with the firm, to lead the development of Burnetts’ West Cumbrian office. Under her leadership, the Cockermouth-based team has quadrupled in size. She lives in Workington.

Lynne Hall and Jayne McCluskey are recommended for the first time:  Lynne is commended for being “able and willing to drill down to the details”, “very professional and efficient” and “always prepared to go the extra mile for her clients”; Jayne is described as “very experienced and knowledgeable”. Both are specialists in the complex area of medical negligence.  Lynne lives in Windermere and Jayne in St Bees.

Alongside lawyers’ individual rankings, firms are also ranked for team specialisms: four of the firm’s teams warrant the highest, Top Tier ranking: Corporate and Commercial; Commercial Litigation; Commercial Property and Education.

Burnetts maintains its long-held position as the only firm in Cumbria to be recommended for its specialisms in Education and Clinical Negligence, with the Education team being described as ‘”very knowledgeable, responsive and professional” and the Clinical Negligence team known for “supporting the client fully at all times.”

Burnetts is also recognised for its expertise in advising on family, employment, agribusiness and trusts and probate issues.

Nick Gutteridge, Burnetts’ Managing Partner said, “That Burnetts provides in-depth legal knowledge and a wide breadth of expertise is a given for most clients. What is important to them, whether they have suffered a medical accident or they are writing their will, is that the service they receive from us is outstanding. Clients rightly demand accessibility and responsiveness and a lawyer that will go the extra mile for them. We’re extremely grateful to the clients who took part in the Legal 500 research and shared their positive experiences of Burnetts.”

Law firms are included in the Legal 500 on merit alone. The rankings are the culmination of many months of research and interviews with law firms and, most importantly, their clients.
