Health & Safety Gone Sane

Burnetts is launching a new health and safety legal service which promises to provide reasonable and proportionate advice in a world “gone mad with health and safety”.

Burnetts is launching a new health and safety legal service which promises to provide reasonable and proportionate advice in a world “gone mad with health and safety”.

The law firm in Carlisle, Newcastle and West Cumbria is launching their B Safer service to businesses with fewer than 10 employees: B Safer aims to provide an antidote to the scaremongering of the national media and overzealous health and safety consultants.

B Safer is the idea of solicitor James Johnston. James, a member of the Health & Safety Lawyers’ Association, said, “For most business owners, the importance of protecting themselves, their employees and the public from workplace dangers is a given, but for many, the biggest concern is not that they have taken all the necessary practical measures, but that they have done enough to satisfy the requirements of health and safety legislation.”

“Our approach will be to provide proportionate and down-to-earth advice to give business owners confidence in their policies as well as helping to minimise the risk of successful prosecutions by ensuring that essential documentation is robust and always being on hand.”

As well as providing a legal compliance audit, B Safer will give clients a free consultation with an accredited health and safety consultant and legal support in a crisis, if the worst happens and there is a work-place accident.
