Local recruit to build on one hundred years of family’s legal expertise

The latest recruit to Burnetts’ Conveyancing team is a third generation lawyer, sharing her legal career as well as strong Cumbrian roots and local knowledge with her father and grandfather before her.

Diane Oliphant will be based in Burnetts’ West Cumbria office off Lamplugh Road in Cockermouth alongside Head of Conveyancing, Kathryn Hill

“My father, David was a solicitor based in Maryport with Milburns for 48 years,” says Diane, “and my grandfather, also David, was a Legal Executive with the same firm for over 40 years before him.  I worked there for the first 22 years of my career and learnt a huge amount about the property sector in and around this area. I’m really pleased to be joining the Burnetts team at an exciting time and am looking forward to building on that expertise as part of the growing team here.”

Diane joins Burnetts as a Chartered Legal Executive at Associate level, in recognition of her experience.  She will be focusing mainly on residential conveyancing matters for private clients, mostly, but not exclusively, in West Cumbria.

Kathryn Hill leads the Conveyancing group within the Property team at Burnetts. She said, “Diane knows this market really well and comes to us with a strong local reputation. She’s already fitted into the team at Cockermouth as if she’s been here much longer and there’s more growth to come.  We’ll be actively recruiting into our Penrith and Carlisle offices in the coming months, ensuring that clients across the region have access to the best of local conveyancing advice.”
