More than 100 delegates have signed up for a Mock Employment Tribunal event being jointly hosted by law firm Burnetts and recruitment experts Hays Specialist Recruitment

The free event, which is taking place from 8.30am to 12.00pm on 6th July at Carlisle Racecourse, is aimed at HR professionals, line managers and business owners. The purpose of the morning is to provide a realistic insight into the workings of an Employment Tribunal, using a case centered on dismissal and sex discrimination. The event will be key in raising awareness of the red flags and high risk areas, especially for those involved in formal meetings with staff.

Joanne Stronach, Joint Head of Employment & HR at Burnetts said, “The Mock Employment Tribunal will be a unique experience which will enable delegates to gain a deeper understanding of the Employment Tribunal including how to present a case, the cross examination process and giving evidence.”

Laura Latimer, Senior Manager at Hays Specialist Recruitment added, “Our Mock Employment Tribunal is designed for all of our clients and connections who have the crucial responsibility of staff management; There will be an opportunity for attendees to contribute thoughts and opinions during the tribunal and afterwards there will be a chance to network and reflect on the morning’s events.

Burnetts’ seven strong team of lawyers and HR consultants will be taking on the roles of Employment Tribunal Judge and solicitors for the defendant and claimant in a pregnancy discrimination case which aims to reflect the issues many employers face in the difficult area of people management.

During the last 12 months, Burnetts’ team has successfully fought Employment Tribunal claims in the education, healthcare, insurance and construction sectors. This session is an opportunity to share their first-hand experience and gain an understanding of the critical success factors.

Limited spaces are still available, but pre-booking is essential. Places can be reserved at www.burnetts.co.uk/events or by calling 01228 552222.
