New Head of Banking

The continued expansion of property-related legal work at Burnetts has driven a restructure and created new opportunities for five members of the team including a new Head of Banking  in the North East.

Richard Miller continues in his role as Head of Property under the new structure overseeing the four teams: Agriculture, Banking, Commercial Property and Residential Conveyancing. The teams will be headed up by Joanne McKenzie – Agriculture; Sarah Willshire – Banking; Helen Hayward and Robbie Mather – Commercial Property; and Kathryn Hill – Residential Conveyancing.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for a refocus on our specialist property services and to allow five incredibly talented individuals to manage their teams designed specifically around these sectors,” says Richard. “I will continue to look after my existing clients, but am hugely excited about overseeing the development of our property services to the next level.”

With the restructure, Senior Associate Sarah Willshire will now be Head of Banking, overseeing the dedicated team for this sector within the region from her base in Newcastle.

“The restructuring and our recent recruitment into the banking team is exciting for Burnetts and for me too,” says Sarah. “It’s a good time to be doing property financing and lending work when there’s so much happening in the sector and it’s great to have a team in place to capitalise on this growth.”

Robbie Mather and Helen Hayward, both Partners with Burnetts, will be heads of Commercial Property.  This is an area which continues to grow for the firm and where recent appointments have created one of the largest teams in the North of England outside of Manchester.

"All five heads have strong local connections and excellent reputations with clients and peers,” says Richard, “and we’re all excited about the possibilities of this new structure."
