Record Lawyer Rankings for Legal 500

Burnetts has a record number of lawyers recommended in the latest issue of the Legal 500, a prestigious guide to UK lawyers and law firms.

In the 2015 edition, published today, 18 of the firm’s solicitors are recognised across nine areas of expertise: every commercial Partner is recognised and, for the first time, the firm has a Top Tier ranking for its specialism in education law.

The firm’s Top Tier teams now include "highly regarded" Commercial Litigation, Corporate and Commercial, Commercial Property as well as Education. Burnetts’ "supportive" Employment and "forward thinking" Family departments are recognised elsewhere in the rankings, as are the Clinical Negligence, Professional Negligence and Agriculture teams.

Former Senior Partner John Morris is included in the elite list of "Leading Lawyers". The Legal 500 describes the eminent employment law solicitor as "exceptional".

As well as leading individuals, the guide also recognises emerging talent: new Partner Michael Walby is ranked for the first time as are Associates James Johnston, Robbie Mather and Sian Spencer.

Nick Gutteridge, Burnetts’ Managing Partner said, "We’re particularly pleased about two aspects of the latest Legal 500 rankings: firstly, our new Top Tier ranking in the education sector puts us above national and international firms operating in the region; and secondly the recognition of so many of our Associates shows that our expertise runs throughout teams, not just in the Partners leading them."
