Cumbrian law firm Burnetts has appointed a new Equity Partner and promoted a trio of solicitors after an award winning year.

Cumbrian law firm Burnetts has appointed a new Equity Partner and promoted a trio of solicitors after an award winning year.

Head of Agribusiness Richard Miller, who first came to Burnetts as a school work experience, has become a part-owner of the business by being moved up to equity status. A former pupil at Nelson Thomlinson School and a Newcastle University graduate, Richard is Cumbrian born and bred. He is a member of the Agricultural Law Society, Cumbria Society and former Chair of Carlisle Young Farmers as well as sitting on the Cumberland Agricultural Society Council.

2013 was an extremely successful year for the Wigton-born solicitor. As well being recognised with Acquisition International Magazine’s “Agribusiness Law Firm of the Year” award, his team was top-ranked in Cumbria for the first time ever by the prestigious law firm guide Chambers and Partners.

Speaking about his appointment, Richard said, “From a young age, I wanted to be a solicitor and Burnetts was where I wanted to establish my career. The firm has helped me to achieve that ambition by providing work experience, a bursary to help me through law college and the opportunity to make a name for myself and the agribusiness team within the agricultural sector. I have worked extremely hard in return and am now looking forward to taking a more active role in the running of the business helping us to achieve continued growth and success in the future.”
